"I'm too old for exercise"

“I Am Too Old For Exercise”

This is perhaps one of the most negative, wrongly placed and damaging statements I have ever heard. The problem is that I haven’t heard this once or twice... I hear this repeatedly.

The fact is that the importance of regular exercise actually increases with age, yet it seems as a society our attitude to this is often quite the opposite. I am here to tell you exactly why the importance of exercise increases with age.

There are a number of different illnesses and diseases which are more common in older people such as osteoporosis, dementia, heart disease and cancer (to name just a few). The risk of developing all of the aforementioned illnesses and diseases can be significantly reduced with regular exercise. It’s a no brainer!! If you want to enjoy your retirement and older days to its full potential then exercise really is something you must consider and it is never too late to start.

Not only does exercise reduce the risk of developing the illnesses and diseases mentioned above, it can also help in the recovery and treatment. For instance many people that suffer from arthritis tend to avoid exercise for fear of a flare up, but exercise actually helps reduce the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis, meaning low impact exercise is perfect.
